Initial Consultation
$50

During this time, the trainer will meet you and your canine in your home for observations, discuss concerns and training goals, and devise a training plan. This is a requirement before contracting for any training sessions or testing.

Behavior Assessment
$75

During this session, the trainer will perform an in-depth evaluation of the dog's overall behavior and response to handling. While available at the request of all clients, it is generally conducted with aggressive dogs or rescues with unknown history.

Service Dog Candidate Assessment
$100

Thorough evaluation in multiple environments to determine your dog's suitability to begin service dog training and identify potential behaviors that could be cause for future dismissal if left unaddressed

Private Obedience Lessons
$100/Hour

Loose leash walking, sit, down, stay, recall, place, controlled entering/exiting doors, environmental exposure, etc. to be conducted at the client's home and pet-friendly community settings

Behavior Modification
$125/Hour

Target undesirable behaviors such as lunging, jumping, resource guarding, separation anxiety, aggression, and reactivity towards other dogs. Frequently our behavior modification programs are a combination of obedience sessions focusing on handling and socialization and behavioral modification sessions addressing the presenting behavior.

Agility Training Sessions
$85/Hour

Train on an A-frame ramp, through tunnels, over jumps and ladders, and on tires and platforms at Kovas's Legacy Headquarters. These sessions are an optional add-on to our obedience programs and are intended to provide mental stimulation and promote owner bonding, not prepare for competition level agility. At client's request, livestock exposure can be added to these sessions.

Service Training Session
$150/Hour

Task training, enhanced distractions, restaurant exposure, public access training, simulated testing scenarios, advanced obedience skills necessary for service dogs, airport crowd exposure and TSA screening, etc. Our service program adheres to IAADP training recommendations.

Training Walks
$30/Half Hour

Training walks are the only sessions conducted without the owner present. This service is geared towards working owners who struggle to provide physical exercise and mental stimulation for their dogs during the limited daylight hours of the rainy season, clients whose physical limitations prevent them from satisfying their pups' exercise needs, and current clients who are out of town and want training consistency for their pup while it is under the care of a pet sitter.

Service Dog Candidate
Public Access Test
$200 plus ticket and parking cost

The trainer will evaluate your service dog candidate's suitability to begin working in public settings as a service dog. The test will be conducted at a professional sporting event in the Seattle area. The service dog candidate will be evaluated on its ability to focus on the handler and appropriately maintain prolonged settle during a variety of noise distractions and exposure to people of varying ages, ethnicity, and sizes across multiple walking textures and on staircases, elevators, ramps, and in aisles. The dog will encounter frequent food distractions and must navigate the handler through crowds on a busy street and through security screening. The evaluation will begin at the parking garage prior to the game and will conclude upon the dog loading into the vehicle following the game.

*Note: The fee is for trainer time and testing only. The purchase price of the trainer's and handler's tickets plus parking fees will be in addition to the $200 testing fee.

Service Dog In Training
Commercial Flight Training

$200 plus ticket and parking cost

Round-trip flight between Seattle-Tacoma and Portland International Airports

The trainer will accompany the owner and dog through the airport lobby, security screening, gate, and the flight. Once in Portland, restaurant training will occur inside an airport restaurant prior to the return flight to SEA-TAC. Upon landing in Seattle, the session will include training at the baggage claim carousels.

Prerequisite: One training session on airport property utilizing the SEA-TAC visitors pass so that the dog and handler have experience with TSA screening and airport traffic prior to flight day.

*Note that pricing does not include ticket price. As airline prices are subject to frequent changes, the price of airfare and airport parking will be in addition to the $200 training fee.

In partnership with Burnsberg Kennels, Kovas's Legacy LLC will assist in the selection of a service dog candidate puppy. Typically the candidate will be between 10-16 weeks old at the time of arrival for training. The candidate puppy will be housed onsite for a period of 12 months for advanced obedience training, socialization/exposure (minimum 120 hours of documented community training), task training (minimum 3 tasks), CGC and Urban CGC testing, commercial flight training, and the Public Access Test. Frequent visits from the owner/handler are encouraged and the owner/handler must be present for the Public Access Test. If the candidate is not deemed to be prepared for the Public Access Test after 12 months, there will be a contract extension at the cost of $1,000 for every additional month the puppy remains with Kovas's Legacy LLC. The initial 12 month contract fee includes all preventative veterinary appointments and vaccinations, spay/neuter (required by Burnsberg Kennels), Pierce County Pet Tax, all food and supplements, flea/tick and heartworm preventative medications, and supplies (crate, orthopedic travel bed, collars, leashes, harnesses, toys. etc.). All supplies will go home with the prospect at the end of training. Please note that no ethical service dog trainer guarantees that a prospect will successfully complete training. There are many factors that could disqualify a candidate from service work, but our preliminary testing and proven training methods minimize the risk of dismissal.
